First-ever Sand Art Fest in Kerala to Begin Today

ALAPPUZHA: The first international sand art festival in the state will be held at Alappuzha beach on Saturday. Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala will inaugurate the fest at 4 pm.  K C Venugopal MP will preside over and G Sudhakaran MLA will speak at the function.  

This is the first time the state is hosting the sand art festival. The State Tourism Department in association with Sand Art Festival (SAF) and Alleppey Foundation are jointly organising the programme.  About 500  national and international sand artists will construct sand art installations in the beach. An art gallery will be arranged in the 5 acre beach.

Besides the sand art competition, an art gallery and an art exhibition will also be conducted at the venue. Other art and cultural programmes will also be arranged as part of the festival. The festival will conclude on April 26.
