P C Thomas Faction Ousted from LDF, Says Scaria Thomas

Express News Service

KOTTAYAM: The ugly factionalism and ensuing cat and mouse play between factions of P C Thomas and Scaria Thomas in the Kerala Congress aligned with the Left Democratic Front (LDF) took a serious turn with the latter gaining upperhand after PC faction was reportedly thrown out of LDF.

Scaria told ‘Express’ that LDF state leadership has already sent intimation to its lower committees regarding the ouster of P C Thomas from the coalition following his  statements in favour of KC(M) chairman and Finance Minister K M Mani, against whom the LDF has been organising stringent protests, following bribery allegations. Moreover, close associates of P C Thomas, including George Sebastian, Thomas Kunnappalli and some others, also left his camp to join the Scaria faction.

Earlier, addressing press conference here Scaria, said that a majority of the leaders and party workers in the Thomas’ camp left him, in protest against the stance taken by Thomas. George Sebastian, who was the working chairman of Thomas faction, said that Thomas was trying to portray Mani as a clean man.

Meanwhile, P C Thomas rubbished Scaria’s claims and said he had not received any such intimation from the LDF. “We are awaiting a decision upon a letter sent by the party leadership seeking a clarification on party’s presence in the coalition,” he told ‘Express’.
