VHP Denies Coercive Conversions

Express News Service

KOLLAM: Vishwa Hindu Parishad’s (VHP) international secretary general Champat Rai said the other day that coercive religious conversions were not taking place in the country.

According to him, as India is a democratic country, every religion has its own space. He said VHP was concentrating on backward areas. Rai said minority communities will have to take an effort to trace their cultural tradition which dates back to 10,000 years. “The chaos associated with re-conversions should be halted,” he said, adding as a citizen of India, anyone has the right to choose a religion which one likes and wants to follow.
