KOCHI:‘Ottaal,’ the national award winning Malayalam film directed by noted filmmaker Jayaraj, will become the first Indian movie to be released online, on an independent platform, on the same day of its theatrical release.

“I have noticed a great interest for Malayalam movies among the global community of movie lovers. Reelmonk.com will give them an  opportunity to easily access the Malayalam movies they love, with features like pay-per-download and subtitles,” said Jayaraj.

Films will be released online in ‘Full HD’ quality, and can be downloaded to laptop or PC. They can even be streamed to TV via HDMI.  Movies that hit theatres on Friday will also be available for download on www.reelmonk.com,  at prices starting at Rs 180.

“After ‘Ottaal’ bagged the Best Film Award this year, it has caught the interest of foreign audience. Since then, our users have been constantly following up with us for its release,” said Reelmonk.com CEO Blaise Crowly.

Reelmonk.com, created by Xincoz Labs and promoted by Konglo Ventures, is the brainchild of three 22-year-old youths from Kochi - Blaise Crowly, Vivek Paul and Gautham Vyas.

It has been selected to the Indian Panorama of the International Film Festival of India, which is scheduled to be held in Goa this year.
