6 students arrested for alleged ragging that lead to suicide of 18-year-old girl

The relatives of the student have alleged that she was forced to end life over mental harassment suffered in college.

KOZHIKODE: Vatakara police, on Tuesday, arrested six students in a case of suicide of an 18-year old student at her house in Thodannur after alleged ragging attempt. Hashinas Hameed, a second year BSc Microbiology student of MHES Arts and Science College, Cherandathoor, was found hanging inside the bathroom of her house on July 23.

The relatives of the student have registered a complaint alleging that she was forced to end life over mental harassment suffered in the college. It was alleged that though the girl had complained about ragging, the college authorities did not inform the police about it.
