A long-pending dream of Kannur folks finally came true as they watched an IAF Dornier 228 land at the Kannur International Airport.

KANNUR:  The long-pending dream of Kannur folks finally took wing as they waited with bated breath to watch a Dornier 228 of the Indian Air Force land on the runway of Kannur International Airport on Monday.

The first trial run at the airport got an overwhelming response from the people, who came in large numbers from various corners of Kannur and neighbouring districts.

Soon after the arrival of chief minister Oommen Chandy and minister K Babu, Air Marshal Raghunath Nambiar, a native of Kannur, flew around the airport along with co-pilot Vipin Maniyayi and landed on the newly-laid runway at 9 am.
