Tearful Adieu to Koyakkutty Musliyar

MALAPPURAM: Thousands of people gathered on Wednesday to pay their last respects to Samastha Kerala Jamiyyathul Ulama president Anakkara C Koyakutty Musliyar as his mortal remains were kept for public viewing at Edappal and later laid to rest at a cemetery near his house at Anakkara in Palakkad.

Koyakutty Musliyar, who had taken the helm of the Samastha when Kalampadi Muhammed Musliyar passed away in 2012, breathed his last at 9.40 am on Tuesday following age-related ailments. He was 81.

The eminent Sunni scholar was the executive member of the Samastha Religious Board of Education and member of Jamiya Nooriya Board of Examination.

He had served as president of the Samastha Palakkad district unit and was also the vice-president of the Malappuram Samastha unit.The deceased Samastha leader had worked as the Mudris at Tirurangadi Vliyapalli, Koyilandi, Maithra, Vaniyannur, Ponmundam, Edakkulam, Kodinhi and Karathur Badiriya College.Known for his religious speeches, Koyakkutty Musliyar has earned a great number of fan following. He is survived by wife K K Fathima, children Muhammed Noor Faisi(UAE), Abdul Nasar Faisi (Anakkara), Abidul Hakeem Faisi, Abdul Salam Faisi, Abdu Samad, Hajara and Safiyya.
