KANHANGAD: A couple have alleged medical negligence after their baby died during caesarean delivery at District Hospital here on Sunday. Hosdurg police have registered a case of ‘unnatural death.’

The foetus has been sent to Pariyaram Medical College for postmortem. Tension prevailed on the hospital premises following the death of the child. Police said the complaint was registered by Sajith, an auto driver of Kundukulampara in Udma, and his wife Indu.

Relatives said Indu was shifted from the ward to the operation theatre after she developed labour pain around 2 am on Sunday.

According to the complaint, the doctors arrived after two hours even though the duty nurses informed about the threat to the child’s life. If the doctor had arrived on time, the child’s life could have been saved, said relatives.
