KANNUR: A CPI(M) worker was hacked to death in an alleged attack by BJP activists at Valankichal near Koothuparamba in the Kannur on Monday morning.

According to police, the deceased was identified as Mohanan (40) a cashier at the toddy shop at Valankilchal.

A gang of five members, who came in a car hacked Mohanan with sharp weapon after entering the toddy shop at 11.30am. They had covered their faces .Mohanan suffered serious injuries all over the body and was shifted to Thalassery cooperative hospital. However he succumbed to his injuries.

The body is kept at Thalassery cooperative hospital and the post-mortem would be held at Pariyaram medical college-hospital.
