IDUKKI: The Pembilai Orumai that brought Munnar to a standstill for days with its unique stir without taking support from any political party or unions has finally merged with a political party, however that of common people, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).

The official announcement of the merger  was made in New Delhi on Wednesday by AAP MLA Somnath Bharti and Labour Minister Gopal Rai in the presence Pembilai Orumai leaders Lissy Sunny, Rajeswary, Stella Mary and Sreelatha who held talks with them prior to the announcement of the same.

Confirming the news, Lissy Sunny, who stuck on to the collective even when many including firebrand Gomathy left the same, told ‘Express’ that they would now work for the AAP which had promised them all support in their labour issues.

She also said that talks would be held with AAP leader and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal before leaving Delhi on Thursday.
