THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Alleging the police were falsely framing her son for participating in the protest staged by relatives of Jishnu Pranoy in front of the Police Headquarters, L Thankamma, mother of K M Shajahan launched a hunger strike at her residence on Sunday.

She alleged her son was trapped by the Left Government for fighting the SNC Lavalin Case in which Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan was involved.

The police arrested Shajahan during the agitation staged by Mahija in front of the Police Headquarters accusing him of instigating the protesters.

Meanwhile, sources said the inquiry report filed by IG Manoj Abraham had named Shajahan, Socialist Unity Centre of India leader S Shajir Khan, his wife Mini, Sreekumar and Himawal Bhadranananda as the people behind the conspiracy.

The report also said that there was no evidence on the direct involvement of Shajahan and Bhadranananda in the conspiracy. Shajahan, who was additional private secretary to former chief minister VS Achuthanandan, was earlier expelled from the CPM.
