THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: After 29 days of student unrest, the Kerala Law Academy Law College (KLALC) on Saturday removed the gate to its campus, which was built on government land. This followed a notice issued by the Kerala Revenue Department.

A report by revenue secretary P H Kurian found that KLALC had built the gate on government land leading to the Kerala Water Authority's property. This piece of land should not have been used for any construction as the Water Authority's pipeline passes underneath the property, Kurian reported.

However, KLALC removed the iron gate on Saturday, the pillars were yet to be demolished.
The Revenue Department’s notice to KLALC also asked the academy to furnish details of an eatery and a branch of the State Cooperative Bank that are located on its campus.

As per the original conditions, the land was given to the trust government KLALC exclusively for educational purposes. However, students allege that the eatery is being run as a restaurant and not a canteen as claimed by the management.
