Police have registered a case against former state police chief T P Senkumar on charges of promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion through a recent interview to a publication.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Police have registered a case against former state police chief T P Senkumar on charges of promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion through a recent interview with a publication. The case has been registered by the Cyber Police under Section 153(A) of the IPC which is non-bailable.

A case has also been registered against the publication which carried the interview. Earlier, the police had sought legal opinion from the Director General of Prosecution on whether a case could be registered against Senkumar. The interview he gave to the magazine had snowballed into a controversy following complaints about its content. Subsequently, DGP Loknath Behera directed the cyber police to probe the case.
