CPM to field MB Faizal in Malappuram Lok Sabha bypoll

The seat fell vacant after the demise of former union minister and Indian Union Muslim League president E Ahamed last month.

KOCHI: DYFI district president MB Faizal will be CPM candidate in the Malappuram LS by poll on April 12, announced CPM state Secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan after the CPM district secretariat meeting on Saturday.

The young leader, a native of Vattamkulam, is a lawyer by profession. He is also a district panchayat member from Changaramkulam Division.

The seat fell vacant after the demise of former union minister and Indian Union Muslim League president E Ahamed last month.

In 2014 election, Muslim League’s E Ahamed had defeated CPM candidate PK Sainaba by a margin of 1, 94,739 votes.
