KOCHI: Playback singer K S Chithra will sing compositions of Ilayaraja during a fundraising programme organised by Canserve, a charitable organisation for cancer patients, in Kochi on Saturday.
Even as Chithra refused to comment on the royalty controversy, she told reporters here she would “render several songs, including those composed by Raja sir”, during the concert.

“Since the royalty issue is under discussion of various organisations representing singers and music directors, I cannot comment on the matter now,” she said. On her opinion on the royalty of a song, Chithra said: “A song evolves through the contribution of several creative minds like composers, singers, lyricists and others. So, I feel singers, too, have equal rights over a song. But, as it’s a matter of debate, I cannot comment on it”.

The three-hour music programme will begin at 5 pm at the Oman Hall, Le Meridian Hotel. The ticket charge will be `5,000, `3,500, `2,000 and `1,000. The entire amount from the ticket sales will be used for helping cancer patients.
