THRISSUR: A few days after the AISF staged a protest before the Paliyekkara Toll Plaza on Mannuthy-Angamali-Edappalli toll highway, the video taken by the national award winning actress Surabhi Lakshmi, who was stuck in the toll booth for hours together went viral in social media.

In the video, the actress was seen in anguish, complaining about the rude behaviour of the people in charge of the toll plaza, who did not let vehicles to pass through, despite a maddening rush of vehicles that were forced to wait in a queue stretching for several kilometers.

"I am on my way to a programme, but my vehicle is not allowed to pass through the toll booth and has been stopped for the payment," she said.

The video also showed parents carrying their children to hospital getting stuck in the traffic and others complaining about the daily ordeal in the booth.  The actress appealed for action against the company and asserted to the people a need to fight and react against it.

Interestingly, a few days ago, police personnel were posted here to control the situation in case of any law and order problem. However, the situation continues at the toll booth, where vehicles are stopped for hours together.

A meeting was also decided to be held by PWD minister G Sudhakaran in the presence of district collector, MLAs, the company and other stake holders. The district administration had directed the company to allow the vehicles to pass through if more than five vehicles were in queue in each lane of the toll plaza.

However, the workers here continued the practice, without considering the problem faced by the motorists.
