THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kerala Women’s Commission chairperson M C Josephine on Thursday said she had received threat letters and packets of human excreta through post after the women’s panel registered a case against PC George MLA over his remarks on the actress who was sexually assaulted in Kochi in February. Josephine said the threat letters had a clear link with the actress attack case and the ensuing controversial remarks made by the MLA as they contained ample references about both incidents. Josephine said she had informed the state police chief about the incident. Josephine said, apart from her, the members of the Women in Cinema Collective had also complained about receiving threats from unknown quarters.

Earlier, the women’s panel had registered a suo motu case against the MLA over defamatory remarks about the actress. This had led to a verbal duel between the MLA and the Commission on many occasions. The MLA said he would narrate his version to the Commission only if he wished to do so and even remarked the women’s panel would not be able to give him capital punishment for his utterances.
