KOLLAM: Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, managed by the Mata Amritanandamayi Math, has been ranked among the top 10 universities in the country, according to the latest National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) list released on Tuesday by Human Resource Development  Minister Prakash Javadekar.

Ranked eighth, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham is close behind well-established public institutions such as the Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru; Jawaharhal Nehru University, Delhi; Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi; Anna University, Chennai; University of Hyderabad; Jadavpur University, Kolkata; and Delhi University.

“I’m extremely thankful to the Government of India, all students and staff of Amrita for this great reward,” said Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham vice-chancellor P Venkat Rangan.

“It’s a wonderful outcome of the visionary leadership of Mata Amritanandamayi in setting the dual goals of Education for Life and Compassion-driven Research. Significantly, Amrita is the only private university in the list of top 10 universities in the NIRF Ranking 2018.

This is a testament to the tradition of academic excellence, outstanding faculty and world-class infrastructure that Amrita is known for since its inception in 2003.”
