Abhimanyu murder case: Around 60 SDPI and PFI workers are under surveillance of Kerala police

The special investigation team which is probing the murder case had conducted raids in Kuthuparamba and Malur areas on Friday with the police team from Kannur.

KANNUR:  Amid the protest of the SDPI leadership that they are being subjected to witch hunt by the Kerala Police in connection with the murder of SFI leader Abhimanyu at Maharajas College, police said that around 60 workers of SDPI and Popular Front are under the surveillance of the police.

The special investigation team which is probing the murder case had conducted raids in Kuthuparamba and Malur areas on Friday with the police team from Kannur led by DySP PP Sadanandan, in search of the prime suspect in the case, PM Muhammad Rifa (24), Campus Front state secretary who is a native of Neerveli near Kuthuparamba.

Though the team had raided the area only to know that the person had left the place and shifted his residence to Vembadithattu near Sivapuram. The police had also gone to Vembadithattu and conducted raid at his present residence. The neighbours had informed police that the person rarely comes to the area and what they know is that he is studying for LLB at Ernakulam.
