KOCHI: In a major crackdown on Popular Front of India (PFI) and Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) following the murder of SFI leader Abhimanyu allegedly by Campus Front at Maharajas College here, Kerala Police on Saturday launched simultaneous raids at key offices of the two organisations.

According to police officers, the raids were being done to collect details about the activities of the PFI with regard to the murder that according to police was a pre-planned one carried out by professional killers.

Officers said the raids were on at Sathyasarani, the religious teaching centre operated by the PFI, in Malappuram and also at the PFI's major offices at Kadampuzha in Malapuram.

Special teams led by the respective district police chiefs are carrying out the raids. Kerala government has taken a tough stand against the PFI and the SDPI after a couple of accused in Abhimanyu case were nabbed.

A similar massive raid at the PFI and the SDPI offices in the state were conducted in July 2010 after PFI activists had chopped off the right hand of Thodupuzha Newman College Professor T J Joseph on July 4, 2010, when he was returning along with his family members from a Sunday mass near his home in Muvattupuzha in Ernakulam district.
