THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:In what appears to be a retaliation to the ‘Hindu Pakistan’ remark by Shashi Tharoor MP, a group of Yuva Morcha activists --- the BJP’s feeder organisation ---vandalised his office in Thiruvananthapuram. The incident invited sharp reaction from the Congress leaders, who dubbed it as a ‘fascist attack and an act of intolerance against freedom of expression’.

A group of about 10 Yuva Morcha workers barged into Tharoor’s office by noon and sprinkled black engine oil on its door and gate. He was not present there. They raised anti-Tharoor slogans and placed a wreath at the office gate. The trespassers sought apology from the diplomat-turned-politician for his comment and demanded him to leave the country. A flex, terming the workplace as ‘Pakistan Office’, was also pasted.

Immediately after the attack, Tharoor tweeted: “They threatened to kill me and shut down my MP office. This is an assault on democracy and freedom of expression.”
