THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the Sabarimala gold theft case interrogated UDF convenor Adoor Prakash on Saturday. He arrived at the Crime Branch office in Thiruvananthapuram in the morning and his statement was recorded by the probe team.

Later, the UDF convenor told reporters that he answered all the questions to the best of his knowledge. Adoor said that the SIT asked about matters related to Unnikrishnan Potti. Adoor said he shared whatever information he was aware of. It was for the SIT to decide whether his responses contained any ambiguity, he added. He also noted that he was not questioned about any financial transactions.

The SIT had summoned Adoor for interrogation in the morning on Saturday, and the questioning lasted for nearly two-and-a-half hours. The move came amid earlier allegations linking him to Potti, the prime accused in the case. Reports had earlier emerged that he met the Potti, along with Congress leader Sonia Gandhi at her residence.

The SIT’s decision to question the UDF convenor comes at a time when the opposition front has been campaigning against the CPM and the state government over the gold theft. Adoor, who had earlier admitted to meeting Potti multiple times, has denied allegations that he has any connection to the Sabarimala case.
