IT could be Hrithik and Priety’s talent but Jadoo was the one who stole the show in 'Koi Mil Gaya'. But science fiction flicks are always risky specially with the budget that goes into the making. However, the Oriya film industry now has some daredevils and creative ones set for release soon.
The posters have already flamed anticipation in the public and Sanjay Nayak’s team is gung ho about the sci-fi project 'Keun Dunia Ru Asila Bandhu' (KDRAB) with fingers crossed. ‘‘We have used the best in the country for computer graphics and special effects and Prasad’s efx from Chennai are a brilliant team. The budget is obviously high and there’s risk with speculations about the movie’s similarity to Koi Mil Gaya already on. But I’m sure once watched that misconception will be cleared,’’ says Sanjay Nayak, director, producer and editor of the film. He claims that the storyline is new and Alfa10, the alien character will strike the right chord with the public.
Shot at Cuttack and Bhubaneswar, the film, a first under Sanjay Nayak Productions banner, is recently done with production while the post-production work is on. The first venture of its kind in the Oriya film industry, KDRAB has a strong cast with veteran actor Mihir Das supporting a youthful team of heartthrobs Sabyasachi, Budhaditya, Archita, and newcomer Bubbly. Priyanka Pattnaik, Chandan, Biren Mishra and Meenaketan are also in the team. ‘‘It was challenging as well as exciting working for the film. At times we had to do a conversational scene with no one around as the alien is mostly created with special effects,’’ says Sabyasachi. The efx co-ordinator Sanjit who assisted the graphics team in Dilli 6 and Krrish was here to handle alien shots.
‘‘The alien belongs to a planet Myatronix and can be considered the lead of the movie,’’ adds Sabyasachi. The actor, a computer engineer being a member of fullorissa.com has prepared an official website for the movie. ‘‘It was great to see everyone take special interest in the project, specially the veterans on the set,’’ says Nayak. Set for a Raja release, the music for the film has been composed by Santiraj Khosla and S Ranjan has handled the camera.
