BHUBANESWAR: A group of youth who had cheated a policeman of Rs 15000 at an ATM counter were caught red-handed on Monday. Three of them managed to flee while the cop managed to nab one.

The incident occurred at about 8.30 am when the ASI BK Sahu was withdrawing cash from an ATM near Vani Vihar Square. Since he faced problems handling the ATM, four youths who were standing nearby offered help.

However, since cash did not come out of the teller machine, a confused Sahu left the ATM and went to another one at Rupali Square. Little did he know the machine was taking time to process his request.

At the second ATM, Sahu found out that the cash had been debited from his account and realising his mistake, he rushed to the first counter when he saw the four gleefully counting the cash.

He asked them for his money but the four pretended the cash to be theirs and picked up a fight. Sahu being a policeman raised an alarm which scared the youth who attempted to flee.

Three managed to escape but one of them was held.
