BHUBANESWAR: A 30-year-old woman, suspected to have been murdered, was found in the house of her neighbour in a slum in Unit VI area of the City last night. The room where deceased Jhumuri Dakua, mother of two, was found, has been locked from outside which prompts the police to believe there was foul play.
When the body was seized, blood stains were found on Jhumuri’s mouth as well as nose. There were other marks on the body too.
While her husband and kin allege that the woman may have been murdered, suicide by consumption of poison has not been ruled out by police. The reason will be known once post-mortem report is available, said an officer.
Jhumuri had gone missing since Sunday morning. Her husband last saw her on Saturday night when he went to bed. Since Jhumuri was feeling dizzy and nausea, she wanted to catch some fresh air on the verandah. After that she was not seen.
Police are trying to ascertain the role of neighbour Jogi Behera with whom the Dakua family had a dispute for quite some time in the past.
The house where the Dakua family was staying actually belonged to Jogi who conceded a portion after failing to repay the money he had borrowed from the former. Jogi and Jhumuri’s husband Hina did not share a good rapport. Capital Police are trying to trace Jogi who could provide clues to the case since the woman was found inside his home.
