Puri seer hits out at missionaries

Express News Service

Puri Shankaracharya Swami Nischalananda  Saraswati on Monday came down heavily on the Christian missionaries for resorting to deception for religious conversion. He held the pseudo secularism practised by politicians responsible for the missionaries getting encouraged to resort to conversion.

“The missionaries working in remote areas are actually interested only in religious conversion, not in providing service to the people. Religious conversion may one day divide the country again,” he warned.

Addressing a religious gathering organised by the Radharamana Mutt in Pattamundai on Monday, Shankaracharya  reiterated that the saint fraternity is determined to save river Ganga at any cost.  He lashed out at the Congress-led UPA Government for failing to protect the river from pollution.
