Express News Service

In a bid to update surgeons  on the advances and best practices in orthopaedic surgery, the Indo-German Orthopaedic Foundation (IGOF) has launched a three-day Master’s Course in advanced orthopaedic surgery for the doctors as well post-graduate students in the State. The master’s course programme on Trauma, Arthroscopy  and Joint Replacement Surgery went underway on March 1 with eminent orthopaedic surgeons from across the world taking part as consultants to guide the doctors here. The programme features live surgery, recorded surgery, panel discussion on rare and complex cases.

IGOF has come up with the course to deliberate on making the right decision on fixing broken bones or replace it with artificial joints and come up with guidelines that would help both patients and consultants, said organising secretary and consultant orthopaedic surgeon, Apollo Hospitals Dr Smarajit Patnaik.
