Another Director of AT Group Arrested

Express News Service

BHUBANESWAR: Another Director of Artha Tatwa (AT) Group Jyotiprakash Jaiprakash was arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) here on Sunday.

The Central agency, which is probing into the multi-hundred crore ponzi scam, produced Jaiprakash before the court of Special Chief Judicial Magistrate and sought his remand. The court heard the submission and sanctioned a 10-day remand of Jaiprakash to the CBI.

A week back, another director of the group, Sambit Khuntia, was arrested from Khurda. Both Jaiprakash and Khuntia had managed to evade police net since the scam surfaced last year.

Though seven top executives of AT Group were named in the chargesheets submitted by Commissionerate Police, these two were not mentioned as they were untraceable. When the CBI launched raids against AT Group earlier this month, Jaiprakash’s flat in Bishnupriya Apartments was searched too.

The CBI has already taken Khuntia on remand while it has sought group chief Pradip Sethy’s custody. Sethy was produced before the CBI court on Saturday when the CBI sought his remand for 14 days to quiz him in connection with the evidence that it has collected. Final hearing and order on the matter is expected on Monday.
