BHUBANESWAR: The first day of the 15th Odisha Assembly was on Thursday adjourned for the day after obituary references.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik moved the motion for obituary reference to seven former legislators, including former speaker Yudhistir Das and four security personnel, who laid down their lives for the nation, immediately after Governor S C Jamir’s address to the House. Leader of the Opposition Narasingh Mishra and Leader of the BJP Legislature Party K V Singhdeo were among others who condoled the deaths.

Speaker Niranjan Pujari adjourned the House after the members observed a minute’s silence as a mark of respect to the departed souls.
