BHUBANESWAR: More than 150 recently displaced slum dwellers of Haladipadia protested outside Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) here on Saturday, demanding immediate rehabilitation.

More than 50 dwelling units in the Haladipadia slum were demolished by the civic authorities for encroaching about 1.5 acre Government land inside the Traffic Training Institute (TTI). The demolition drive took place on Tuesday under the jurisdiction of Laxmisagar police station.

The slum dwellers have demanded BMC to rehabilitate them immediately stating that they are homeless due to unannounced eviction drive.
