BERHAMPUR: A journalist, working at a private Odia television channel in Ganjam district, has been killed allegedly by some unidentified miscreants, police said Wednesday.

The body of Tapas Acharya (34) was recovered last night from a roadside near Khallikote police station, about 50 km from here.

Acharya, who hailed from Bikrampur village had injury marks on his neck, police said.

He was suspected to have been killed while returning to his village, about 15 km from Khallikote, after duty, family members of the deceased said.

"We suspect the miscreants might have used a knife or a sharp weapon to kill him," sub divisional police officer, Chhatrapur, A Ch Pahi said.

Preliminary inquiry showed that an old enmity might be reason behind the murder, he stated.

A scientific team has been pressed for investigation, the SDPO said.
