Student Hurt as Bomb Goes off on KV Campus

BHUBANESWAR: In a shocking incident, a crude bomb, lying in a heap of waste on Kendriya Vidyalaya-1 campus, went off, leaving a student injured, here on Monday.

Prince Patnaik, a Class III student, was playing around the waste dump when the bomb exploded. The eight-year-old received injuries on his hand, which needed at least 12 stitches.

Kharavela Nagar Police rushed to the spot. How the bomb landed on the school campus is yet to be ascertained.

The Unit IX area, where the school is located, has witnessed similar incidents in the past. On September 27, police had found three live bombs from the area, ahead of college elections. The Quick Action Team of Commissionerate Police had also seized a firearm and arrested two persons from the same locality recently.
