Robbers Strike at Temple

CUTTACK:  Robbers struck at Mangala Mandir, a major shrine in the Millennium City at Jhanjirimangala, and allegedly decamped with gold and silver ornaments worth ` four lakh.

The robbery was detected by main priest of the temple Abhimanyu Rana early on Monday. When he came to the temple for early morning rituals at around 5 am, he found the temple gate and that of the sanctum sanctorum broken. All the ornaments of the deity were missing.

Rana immediately informed temple officials and police were called in. More than 30 gm of gold and over a kg of silver ornaments and other adornments of the deity had been looted, temple officials told police.

Badambadi police registered a case in this connection. Forensic teams and sniffer dogs have been deployed in the investigation.
