JHARSUGUDA: Workers of Action Ispat are on an indefinite hunger strike in front of the Collector's office since Tuesday, demanding payment of salary.

While the company's Pandaripathar plant was recently shut down, the workers alleged that they have not been paid salaries for the last eight months. The company management has closed the plant premises without declaring a lock-out. Workers said they have apprised the district administration about the issue.

While the administration had called for a meeting with the management several times in the past, the latter failed to attend any. With no way out, the workers have decided to sit on fast unto death. Collector, Bibhuti Bhusan Patnaik said efforts are underway to locate the company's management members. "If they do not appear before the administration, we would take the legal course," he said.
