Chittaranjan Patnaik Passes Away at 79

BHUBANESWAR: Rotarian and former senior executive of Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) Chittaranjan Patnaik passed away on Monday.

He was 79. The end came at about 12.50 pm in a private hospital in New Delhi.

Born in 1936, Patnaik joined the RSP and rose to become its Chief Security Officer. Later, he was transferred to Bhubaneswar as the liaison officer.

During his tenure as liaison officer, Patnaik helped solve many issues between RSP and the State Government. After retirement too, he was roped in as consultant by several corporate groups. An amicable person, Patnaik was popular in the socio-cultural circle of Bhubaneswar.

He is survived by wife and former educationist Sandhyarani, sons Dharmaditya and Dibyalok, both noted businessmen. Patnaik is also the elder brother of former minister Niranjan Patnaik and Editor of Odia daily Sambad Soumya Ranjan Patnaik.
