MALKANGIRI : Of the 69 deaths reported so far in the district, 24 died due to Japanese Encephalitis (JE), claimed Collector K Sudarshan Chakravarthy on Monday.
Speaking to this paper on the latest JE situation in Malkangiri, he said 246 children were admitted to the DHH while blood samples of 289 were sent for test of which 91 were found JE positive.
Of the 91 JE-affected children admitted to the DHH, 67 have been discharged successfully after treatment, Chakravarthy added. So far, a total of 154 children have been discharged from the DHH after treatment. Fogging drive has been completed in 505 villages while 12,686 mosquito nets have already been distributed in the JE affected areas and 23 children including four in ICU are undergoing treatment in the DHH.
