BJD's trade union Biju Shramik Samukhya formed

BHUBANESWAR: The ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) today announced the formation of its trade union named "Biju Shramik Samukhya (BSS)".

Announcing the formation of the BSS, party vice-president and spokesperson Surya Narayan Patro said senior leader and former MLA Rajendra Prasad Singh has been appointed as the first president of the organisation.

Senior MLA and former minister Prafulla Samal and Subas Singh have been appointed as working president and general secretary respectively,  Patro said and added chief minister Naveen Patnaik had
approved the formation of the union on Thursday.

The nine vice-presidents of the BSS are BJD leaders Anup Sai, Lalit Nayak, Panchanan Senapati, Baidyanath Das, Ananta Narayan Jena, Panchanan Senapati, Gokul Meher, Amrut Das and Dilip Kumar Kar have been appointed as vice-presidents of BSS. While 11 BJD leaders have been appointed as secretaries, Trailokya Bihari Patnaik will be the treasurer.

Party MLAs Debasis Samantray, Sameer Das, Sushanta Kumar Behera, Brajakishore Pradhan and former minister Sarada Nayak have been included in the advisory board.
