Aadhaar centres in Gram Panchayats to ease registration

In a proposal to boost Aadhaar enrolment and facilitate its registration, the State Government on Tuesday  announced opening of Aadhaar registration centres at the panchayat level of every district.

BHUBANESWAR: In a proposal to boost Aadhaar enrolment and facilitate its registration, the State Government on Tuesday  announced opening of Aadhaar registration centres at the panchayat level of every district.The issue was discussed at a high-level meeting presided over by Chief Secretary AP Padhi at the State Secretariat here. The Chief Secretary directed different departments to link Aadhaar number of beneficiaries with welfare programmes. Padhi said enrolment programme should be finalised after taking into account facilities in schools and anganwadi centres.

Padhi said, in the next three to four months the number of people registering themselves under Aadhaar is likely to increase. Till now, 94 per cent of the total people have enrolled and registered under Aadhaar. About 82 per cent school children and 60 per cent Anganwadi children have been registered. So far 4,43,69,416 persons out of 4,49,41,660 have been enrolled.

Development Commissioner R Balakrishnan, Principal Secretary in Finance Department TK Pandey, Secretary in the Electronics and Information Technology Department Ashok Kumar Meena and senior officials attended the meeting.
