PARADIP: Local transgenders on Monday threatened to intensify protest if the accused persons, who humiliated and stripped one of them a few days back are not arrested soon.The transgenders also alleged that they are being frequently harassed and humiliated and sought protection from the police.Sources said local kinnars beg at different places including the sea beach, railway station and during festivals in Paradip town to eke out a living.

On Friday night, a kinnar was returning to her house after begging on the beach when some miscreants forcibly detained her at Cargill Chowk and humiliated her. When the victim resisted, the accused stripped her at an isolated place.Later, the kinnar lodged an FIR with Paradip police following which a case was registered. However, police are yet to identify the accused and arrest them.
