BHUBANESWAR: Campaigning for students' union election concluded on Thursday with aspirants trying their best to outdo their rivals to garner maximum number of votes.While the election is scheduled on Saturday, aspirants will make an attempt to draw support from students at the 'What I stand for' meeting to be held on Friday. Earlier, Utkal University, Universty Law College and BJB Autonomous College were closed sine die due to violence by the sudents.
On Thursday, two groups of students of Utkal University holding allegiance to a particular political party met Police Commissioner over the violence that had erupted in the institution following filing of nomination papers.Meanwhile, security has been beefed up in a maximum number where election would be held. Rama Devi Women’s University Vice-Chancellor, Padmaja Mishra said adequate security measures have been taken to ensure that the 'What I Stand For' meeting and election are conducted peacefully.
Apart from Rama Devi University, election will be held in Rajdhani College, Debray College, Capital Law College and Ekamra College in the city.
