AIIMS, Bhubaneswar second best hospital in country in cleanliness

The honour comes at a time when the institute is celebrating Swachh Pakhwada from April 1 to 15.

BHUBANESWAR:All Indian Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Bhubaneswar has been adjudged the second best hospital among Category B Hospitals of the country for adopting cleanliness and hygiene practices. The institute will be awarded Rs 1  crore under the Kayakalp scheme for the performance.
The Kayakalp Award is aimed at promoting high degree of cleanliness, hygiene and infection control practices in health care facilities.

The honour comes at a time when the institute is celebrating Swachh Pakhwada from April 1 to 15. This year’s activity included massive cleaning of exterior and interior of the hospital, hygiene promotion involving general public and training on infection control to all stakeholders.

Earlier, Joint Secretary, Union Ministry of Health and Welfare Gayatri Mishra had visited the institute on April 11 as a Swachhta observer and expressed satisfaction over the cleanliness of hospitals and activities undertaken by the institute.

Director,AIIMS,  Dr Gitanjali B said the award was possible with positive feedback received from patients on the clinical, support and utility services of AIIMS.Medical Superintendent Dr SN Mohanty and Dean Dr Vikas Bhatia have congratulated the staff of the hospital.
