BHUBANESWAR: A beauty parlour owner and a staff allegedly stole a gold chain from one of the customers on Saturday. Sukanti Mohapatra of Adimata Colony was running a beauty parlour at a market inside Utkal University along with a staff, Pragyan Bal of Nayapalli.

A customer, Anjushree, wife of an Assistant Professor of PG department (Commerce), visited the parlour in the morning for a hair cut where she was given an apron by Bal. While leaving, the customer found out that her gold chain was missing and when she confronted Mohapatra and Bal, the duo denied seeing the ornament. The woman immediately approached Saheed Nagar Police and lodged a complaint.

The City cops went to the spot to conduct an investigation and they recovered the gold chain from the parlour. Police sources said some other customers had also lost their ornaments in the past, but the ladies used to confuse them by telling that they might have misplaced their valuables. “A case has been registered under Section 379 and 34 of IPC and the duo has been arrested,” Saheed Nagar Police said.
