TIRUNELVELI: A chargesheet has been filed against former AIADMK minister Nainar Nagendran and his relatives in a Rs 3.9 crore disproportionate assets case.

Nainar Nagendran, who was MLA and Minister in the AIADMK government from 2001 to 2006, had along with his relatives allegedly amassed Rs 3.9 crore worth assets disproportionate to their known sources of income, Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-corruption sources said.

In this connection, a case was registered against Nagendran, his wife and four other relatives under the Prevention of Corruption Act (1988) and IPC section 109 (punishment of abetment).

DVAC DSP R Manoharakumar filed the chargesheet in the court of Tirunelveli Chief Judicial Magistrate Court yesterday.
