CHENNAI: Noted Tamil writer and poet Soundra Kailasam passed away at her residence here Saturday. She was 83.

Wife of retired Supreme Court judge P.S. Kailasam, she is survived by a son Sadayavel Kailasam and three daughters Vimala Ramalingam; Nalini Chidambaram, who is married to Home Minister P. Chidambaram and Padmini Sivasubramanian.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi paid homage to Kailasam at her home.
