CHENNAI: A separate homeland for Tamils is the only solution for the long drawn out ethnic crisis in Sri Lanka, Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) chief Thirumavalavan and PMK president Dr S Ramadoss argued here on Sunday.

Speaking at a seminar organised by Tamil Protection Movement, Thirumavalavan accused the Sinhalese leadership in Sri Lanka of being arrogant. “As long as the Tamils live, the voice for Eelam will not cease,” he said.

Commenting on the resolution passed by the State government seeking sanctions against Lanka, he wanted to know if the AIADMK was ready to pass a resolution on separate Eelam. “Both the DMK and AIADMK do not say that Eelam is the solution. But Eelam is the only way out.”

In his address, Ramadoss said his party would continue to voice support till Eelam was born as it was the only answer to the ethnic strife in the island nation. Former Union Minister AK Murthy, PMK president GK Mani and several functionaries of the VCK were among the participants.
