Express News Service

The State government on Friday said supply of rice and other commodities to family card holders through Public Distribution System in Srirangam is being done properly and there are no shortcomings in the process.

Referring to the report that appeared in DMK mouthpiece ‘Murasoli’ on July 19, Food Secretary MP Nirmala said the report about PDS supply in Srirangam constituency was  contrary to truth.

She said quality rice had been provided to the card holders through PDS and consumer organisations had expressed satisfaction over the quality of rice.  Under the special PDS scheme, sufficient quantity of toor dal, urad dal and palm oil have been allocated to the ration shops in Srirangam constituency. Steps have been taken to transport these commodities for the current month.
