Eight held for rowdy murder

Eight members of the 11-member-gang, involved in the murder of notorious rowdy Thoothabi, at Nagaraj, were arrested here on Tuesday.

Superintendent of Police (North), S Ramaraj, told reporters that the arrested were Vanna Senthil (28), Mani alias Manivannan (24), Arokiaraj (37), Sathya alias Sivaperumal (16), Anchetta Raj alias Raj (25), Jano alias Jayachandran (26), Rajani alias Rajesh (29), and Muthuvel (29). Raamaraj added that three persons, who were absconding, will be booked soon.

Ramaraj said a quarrel at a bar resulted in the murder of Nagaraj, who went to question the harassment of his relative in his rival area.Explaining the sequence of events, Ramaraj said that Nagaraj’s relative, Vicky, of Kumaragurupallam, consuming liquor picked up a quarrel with Vanna Senthil, on July 21 night.

Nagararaj, along with his friends, Jayakanthan, Vickey, Maran and others, went in search of Senthil at Thiruvalluvar Nagar when they were attacked by Senthil, whose friends gathered and launched a counter-attack.

Nagaraj, who was attacked near a gym with dumbbells, died on the spot while his associates were Injured.
