Trophies and cash awards in various sporting disciplines were presented to the winners at a function held at the Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium in Chennai on Thursday. The awards ceremony comes after Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa had presented trophies and cheques to 20 first-place winners of the competitions on Tuesday.
The remaining 690 sportspersons who had won second and third places in individual competitions and those who had won second, third and fourth places in team competitions received their trophies and cash awards from School Education Minister Vaigaichelvan, in the presence of School Education, Sports and Youth Welfare Secretary Md Nasimuddin and Sports Development Authority of Tamil Nadu Member Secretary K Rajaraman.
