Terror suspects ‘Police’ Fakruddin and Bilal Malik, who were under judicial custody in Vellore Central Prison for Men, were taken to Salem on Thursday morning, to be produced at the Salem Court, in connection with the murder case of Auditor Ramesh.
The terror suspects were under the judicial custody in connection with the murder case of Hindu Munnani functionary S Vellaiappan, and the custody reportedly ended on October 31.
Meanwhile, CBCID Officials of Salem arrived at the Vellore Prison on Wednesday and submitted the arrest warrant of the duo in connection with the murder case of Auditor Ramesh in Salem. Following this, the duo was taken to Salem around 7.30 am, to be produced before the court on Thursday. They were produced at the Fourth Judicial Magistrate court in Salem. Police asked the magistrate to permit them to take them into their custody for further interrogation.
The accused were brought in separate vans from Vellore Central Jail at about 12.15 afternoon. Their faces were covered with cloths and a large number of police who accompanied them prevented photographers from taking pictures. Later in the evening when the police took custody and brought the accused outside, the press photographers and cameramen who tried to shoot were man handled and beaten up.
According to J Salim, Public Prosecutor, the CBCID team dealing with the Auditor Ramesh murder case wanted to question Bilal Malik and Police Fakruddin in the case because the two had made confessional statements at Vellore Central Jail in connection with the Hindu Munnani leader Vellaiyan murder case that they murdered Auditor Ramesh along with others. The CBCID in their plea asked the magistrate Vijayalakshmi to allow them to keep the two accused for 15 days, but the magistrate granted only 12 days.
