Six killed in explosion at Idinthakarai

Six persons, including three children, were killed and three others sustained grievous injuries as country bombs kept in a house went off at Tsunami Nagar in Idinthakarai near Koodankulam on Tuesday.

Six persons, including three children, were killed and three others sustained grievous injuries as country bombs kept in a house went off at Tsunami Nagar in Idinthakarai near Koodankulam on Tuesday.

According to police sources, the bombs kept in a house went off at 7 pm in which three houses were damaged.  One house was completely destroyed in the blast.

Four bodies were identified as those of Sona (14), Subiksha (12), Tepikson (2), all children of Sahayam of Idinthakarai and Yagappan (35) of Kuthenkuly. The injured, Roslin (38), wife of Sahayam, Vijay (15) and Yesumariya Susai (48) of Kuthenkuly were admitted in the Aasaripallam Government Medical College Hospital at Nagercoil. The house of Sahayam was razed in the blast in which three of his children died on the spot.

Tirunelveli district SP Vijayendra S Bidari said the blast had no connection with the ongoing protest against the Koodankulam Nuclear Power Plant.
